Limited Edition Giclee Prints

Giclee prints are the highest quality reproduction prints available. The word “giclee” is French for “to squirt.” The process involves photographing an original painting and exporting the image to a digital printmaker that sprays tiny droplets of  ink onto the paper. The image resolution, or dots-per-inch, is higher than traditional lithography. The resulting print has all the subtle tonalities of the original art, and colors can be matched with precision. Depending on the care it is given, and unlike lithographic works, which have a limited lifespan, the giclee print should last over a hundred years.

The most important part of the process of producing an exceptional giclee print is the capture of the image. To this end,  Sydney partners with Richard Dorbin, artist, professional photographer and owner of Paragon Light, located in Easton, Maryland. Richard uses state of the art digital cameras and printing equipment and his excellent artistic sense to make this part of the process seem effortless. His attention to detail and willingness to work closely with the artist results in outstanding reproductions.

The following museums include giclee reproductions in their collections: The National Gallery of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art,  Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum, and the San Francisco Museum of Art.
